As nautical museums go, this isn't one of the best, despite Greece’s long maritime history. Still, it does have all the requisite models of ancient and modern ships, seascapes by leading 19th- and 20th-century Greek painters, guns, flags and maps, and even part of a submarine.

A small museum with great interest. The maritime history of Greece is presented in this beautiful museum, with collections of the Independence War the 1st and 2nd WW and many exhibits reflecting the importance of the Sea for the Greeks.

In the museum the naval history of the Greek nation unfolds before the eyes of the visitors, in consecutive halls. The museum is rich in models of ships, representations of historical events, various objects etc. of the antiquity, the Revolution of 1821, the modern history of the navy and our commercial shipping. You can admire parts of the Cononian wall of Piraeus and the famous shipsheds, where the triremes were repaired and maintained. The museum is considered the largest maritime museum in Greece. Among other exhibits there is a rich collection of 10,000 volumes of rare editions of nautical books and maps, artworks and rich photographic archive. Info The museum is located at Themistocleous coast, at the entrance of Zea Marina.
