If you happen to wake up early and ravenous, the 5 Spot is your best bet for a lumberjack’s ration of brunch. The line can get unwieldy in the later morning, at which point you’re probably better off looking further afield, but for the earlier rise, with kids, it’s the best pick in the immediate area. Venture to Queen Anne for a low-key brunch at this fun local diner. They change their theme regularly to give their decor and menu a geographical flair. Free street parking but you’ll likely have to go a couple blocks up the hill for a spot. (20 min away)
