Amazing natural wonder. See kayakers surf on a standing wave. This is about 1-2 hours round trip and an hour drive from Roberts creek in Egmont near the Saltry bay ferry. Use maps to find it. Check tide tables to time your tripe to view the strongest tide changes.
Skookumchuck Narrows is an approx. 1.5 hour drive from Spyglass Nook Suite. The easy hike is a 4 km, well developed trail with minimal elevation change that will take about 1 hour to walk. (2 hours round trip) As you are heading in visit Skookumchuck Bakery & Cafe for a delicious Cinnamon Bun & Coffee. 2022 hours May 20th - September 25th, Wed-Sun 9-4pm Skookumchuck means Strong Water. Tide water is forced thru Skookumchuck Narrows & forms the Sechelt Rapids. The difference in water levels between one side of the rapids and the other can exceed 2 metres in height. Current speeds can exceed 30 km/hour. If it is big waves you are looking for check out the Flood Tide which can be viewed from the Roland Point viewing area. The whirlpool & tidal pool activity is found during the Ebb Tide & can be viewed from the North Point viewing area. (see Tide Chart in the Sunshine Coast Magazine or online)

This park was established in 1957. Skookumchuck Narrows Provincial Park provides trails and viewing areas for visitors who wish to experience the awesome power of incredibly turbulent tidal rapids. On a 3 metre tide, 200 billion gallons of water flow through the narrows connecting Sechelt and Jervis Inlet.
