From the outside, it’s hard to see what goes on behind the doors of Pavilhão Chinês, but we encourage you to take a peek! Once you’re in, you won’t be able to contain yourself from admiring the thousands of artifacts put on display. There are miniature airplanes on the roof, and cabinets filled with old trains and toy soldiers. It’s a bar, yes, but you could as well be in a museum. The owners took over an old grocery store in 1986 and turned it into an exclusive cocktail bar that attracts both locals and tourists. Fancy a game of pool? Just head to the back, and you’ll find two tables to play in. As for the drinks, we recommend the daiquiris, but you really can’t go wrong here.

For a local this place os part of Lisbon. It has been there forever. It has a million collections from everything you can imagine. A wonderful place to have a drink and play some billiards!

During World War II the favourite spies' meeting place, today a unique bar with glass cabinets covering all the walls with the most incredible collections of dolls, lead soldiers, airplanes, flags and weapons from the Soviet Union period... Few other bars can claim to be quite as magical as the Pavilhão Chinês. Upon entering you can be forgiven for wondering whether you’ve passed through some sort of looking glass, as you wander among five cavernous rooms filled with literally thousands of curiosities from around the world. There are toy soldiers, ceramic and porcelain dolls, along with pictures, posters and other vintage bits-and-bobs. There are two pool tables in the back room, where smokers can relax, and add to the hazy, surreal atmosphere generated by the dim lighting. Pavilhão Chinês used to be a grocery store in the 19th century, and serves a wide variety of cocktails, along with teas and other drinks.
