Famously where the American Rangers scaled a vertical cliff under fire to attack a massive gun emplacement position threatening the troops on the D Day Beaches. Not landscaped and pristine, the pock marks of countless shells are still visible.

This really surpassed our expectations. The story of the D Day landings is beautifully captured - you can walk into the bomb craters and shelters. Fantastic views too.

La pointe du Hoc was the location of a series of German bunkers and machine gun points. A promontory with a 35 meter cliff. A heritage site at Cricqueville-en-Bessin, located between Omaha Beach and Utah Beach.
