The mere mention of the word "Backlanes" will conjure up images of rat infested, rubbish scattered, dirty, smelly and badly lit places. But a number of back lanes around Kuala Lumpur's food street Jalan Alor have been transformed into Instagram hotspots. Beautiful and colorful murals and street arts adorned the back wall of rows of buildings. A very commendable effort by City Hall to rejuvenate these once shunned locations of KL.
