Look for the ever-present line outside the green building on Oak Street and you'll find Mike's, a Hood River institution. Take your scoop across the street and sit under a big shady tree on the library gardens.

SUMMARY: This is an itsy-bitsy ice-cream parlor, carrying a delicious national brand (out of Tennessee). Mike's Ice Cream is quaint, unique, and a veritable Hood River landmark since 1986. FOOD: ICE CREAM!!!! (is that food?) DRINK: melted ice cream all over your wrist, or milkshakes. AMBIANCE: Tucked away inconspicuous and camouflaged to look like part of its neighboring business (The Ruddy Duck), Mike's is easy to miss as you drive on by, except for the colorful lawn chairs, red sunbrellas, and crowds of people sittin' on the grass with flowers in their hair said, "Hey, Boy, do you wanna ice scream?" Led Zeppelin notwithstanding, this place is rockin' in the summertime for the family.
