The site of the castle was built in the 12th century A fascinating history lived in until after Second World War having been used as a military hospital. The castles walled garden,gatehouse and several other structures survive.

A short walk beyond Southerndown beach you will find these beautiful secret gardens. A well kept secret amongst locals-you will often find families and friends enjoying picnics and playing ball games. Well worth the trip-why not take a picnic and stay a few hours.
