A beautiful beach to spend an afternoon. The Te Whanganui-A-Hei Marine Reserve, named after a Maori Chief who arrived on the Te Arawa waka in the 1300s, is easily accessed from here.

Hahei is a picturesque beach one hour north of Opoutere.From here you can walk to Cathedral Cove another beautiful beach which was used for some filming of The Chronicles of Narnia.
