Popular with families, this beach is great for children because of its protected lagoon making for calm and serene water conditions. The shallow, sandy ocean bottom is ideal for small children learning to swim, snorkel and for novice swimmers. Access to Kikaua Point Beach Park is through the Kukio Golf Resort. As you enter the resort, the guard at the security gate will provide you with a visitor pass and direct you to the parking lot if there is space. Parking is limited, so we suggest arriving early in the morning around 9:00 am at the latest. There is a short walk along a paved trail between the parking lot and Kikaua beach. The trail is baby stroller and wheelchair accessible, Kikaua Point Beach Park is one of the easier beaches to get to on the Big Island. At the end of the trail, you will find restrooms, showers, and drinking water.

The best beach we’ve found in Kona is Kikaua Point Park located north of the airport. This public beach is served by a private parking area with only 31 spots. The beach has bathrooms and showers, but no services so bring plenty of sunscreen, a cooler and your lunch. Since there are only 31 spots, the beach fills up quickly and security restricts passes, so you can’t just park on the lava. To guarantee a spot we suggest you arrive by 8:30 AM. It is a great place to spend an entire day relaxing. To access it you need to check in at the security station located at: GPS: 19.812882, -155.987906 -or- 72-144 Lipoa Pl Kailua-Kona, HI 96740

Take Kukio Nui Road off Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway and drive up to the guard station to get a parking permit. The beach is in a protected cove so it's great for swimming and wading.

Great beach for kids, or just people who want calm water. Snorkeling here can be great at high tide, parking is limited so go early.

This is an amazing little sheltered beach for little kids and those looking for a quiet beach that actually has some shade. There is a restroom and a paved path from the parking lot to the beach. This place fills up very quickly and has limited parking so get here before 9am. You access it from the Kukio Golf Resort security gate. They will get you a parking pass and direct you to the beach. There is an adjoining beach, Kukio, that can be accessed through the Four Seasons resort security gate.
