This 15 million year old wind sculpted rock is a geological wonder. Standing about 40' tall it a Wonder that it's "balanced". just a short drive from Buhl it sets near a desert Oasis park on the Salmon Falls Creek, Ideal for fishing or having an afternoon Pic-nic.

Great attraction...one of the wonders of Idaho! There is also a park for picnicking near lovely stream.

This is an incredible wind carved rock. perfect for early mornings sunset adventures, as there is no shade! Excellent steep little hike!

South of Buhl in the Salmon Falls Creek Canyon stands world-famous Balanced Rock. Over 48 feet tall and 40 tons, the wind-carved rock balances precariously on a pedestal only 3 feet by 17 inches. Nearby Balanced Rock Park is an excellent spot for a picnic BBQ grills & tables on site, fishing, hiking, and tent camping.
