이올라니 궁전. 하와이 왕조 때 지어진 궁전입니다. 사탕수수 산업이 호황일 때 그때 당시로 30만불을 들여서 지은 궁전이라고 합니다. 나라를 빼앗겨 본 역사가 있는 한국인으로서는 하와이안의 슬픔을 조금이나마 느낄 수 있는 곳입니다.

The only Royal Palace in our nation, 364 South King St. ph#(808) 522-0822, Sunday closed, Monday-Saturday, 0900-1600 hours, admission $20 and up, metered parking, see website. (Bonus: Our state capital is north, our state library east, and the Kamehameha statue south of Iolani Palace, west is only office buildings fyi).

Hawaiian civilization was isolated from the rest of the world for at least 500 years. Europeans lead by a British explorer named James Cook arrived in the Hawaiian Islands in 1778.
