Twitchers Cottage backs onto the Hawk and Owl reserve and it can be accessed by walking along the drove that runs behind the property.

Set just behind Shapwick; a short drive from Chilton Polden, this is a wonderfully rural nature reserve where you can walk for miles and are very likely to see all sorts of wildlife.

Situated on the Somerset Levels, it was previously farmed for a variety of arable crops. The Hawk and Owl Trust is restoring it to permanent wet grassland. Some land is being restored to fen. Rough grass margins will encourage owls and other birds of prey and the small mammals they feed on. It is open year round and accessible by public and permissive paths. Shapwick Moor forms part of the Avalon Marshes network of reserves.
