East Wittering beach is typical of many beaches along England’s south coast with its shelving shingle and wooden groynes. As the tide goes out expansive sand flats are revealed - the kind of sand that is perfect for building sand castles and ball games! East Wittering is 2 miles from its more popular neighbour, West Wittering, and remains a good choice for those who prefer a quieter location. The family-friendly beach is easy to access from Shore Road and Tamarisk Walk with multiple paths through the grass-covered dunes. Dogs are banned from the main beach in summer and there are no lifeguards. Most facilities can be found in the adjoining village including cafés, shops and pubs. Sailing is popular from the beach and there may be flat water or light bumpy waves depending on the tide and wind direction. It is also good for beginner surfers with a low beach gradient and lack of hazards such as rips and rocks.

East Wittering beach is a good alternative to West Wittering as the parking is easier and cheaper! You can walk along the beach to West Wittering very easily too!

Wonderful beach, and nice and clean. Beach is pebbles. But when the tide is out (it goes out really far) you can walk all the way down to west Wittering to sandy beach. East Wittering becah there is a fishmonger. Really nice guy goes out on his boat 5 times a week and catches fresh fish. Lovely prawns pot you can buy for £3 and eat on the beach. And also you can buy ice-cream that is so delicious. Walk to west Wittering from east Wittering is around 30 minutes. But really lovely walk with the family. Really recommend it.

This is more for families and the bucket and spaders rather than for a walk. You dont need to book, but spaces at the Marine Drive Carpark PO20 8HF get taken up very quickly and the road down to the Witterings can get very jammed up if you dont go early!
