This shop has many creative skewers that you won’t find anywhere else. The great thing about Daraku is they maintain the essence of yakitori. Although he looks intense, Chef Yabuuchi, a former musician, will teach you a lot if you ask. They have a special basement annex that’s exclusively for regulars—ask about it after you’ve gone a couple of times. The meal is usually served omakase-style—chef’s choice—although he’ll ask about your preferences. Watch out though, he’ll get mad if you take the meat off the skewers.
