A quirky driftwood hut set into the cliff overlooking the Ocean . Built by the victorian local legend , Reverend Hawker it’s now maintained by National trust. Its a short walk across the cliff from the rectory tea rooms . Alternatively you can access it from the Bush inn through the valley .
This gentle cliff top walk encompasses breath-taking views of North Cornwall's coast. You'll come across a beautiful church, believed to date back to Saxon times, and of course, Hawker's Hut, the refuge of poet Reverend Robert Hawker. On a clear day, Lundy Island can be seen, and there's also a great deal of interesting local wildlife.
Driftwood hut made by the famous 19th century poet Rev Robert Hawker of Morwenstow Church
Has to be seen to be believed. A tiny hut built out of shipwreck wood in the 1840's by an eccentric vicar in order to write poetry and smoke his opium pipe (as you do).
