The palace stands next to the Liston square. It really worth visiting since it is picturesque and you can also walk in the beautiful small garden with sea and fortress view on the back side.

The Palace of Saints Michael and George is a palace in the city of Corfu on the island of the same name. His second name is Old Palace. The Palace was built for Sir Thomas Maitland, the British High Commissioner to the Ionian Islands. It was used as the residence of the High Commissioner but it was also used as the seat of the Ionian Senate and the order of Saints Michael and George. The foundation stone was laid on the ground on the day of Agios Georgios in 1819. The location where the Palace was built was between the old town hall of Corfu and the Venetian castle. After the unification of the Ionian Islands with the Kingdom of Greece in 1864, the palace served as a royal residence until the Second World War. Today the palace houses the Museum of Asian Art of Corfu. The museum's collection began to be collected in 1927 and consists mainly of donations, with the largest being that of Grigorios Manos with 10,500 pieces.

During the British occupation, the British High Commissioner Adam in 1819 decided to build a small house, so that it could easily fit him and his family. But he exaggerated a bit and instead of a house, he finally left this wonderful Georgian-style palace in Corfu. The building was designed by the English Colonel Engineer Sir George Whitmore (1775-1862) and is majestic but also elegant despite its large size. It is the largest palace building in Greece after the palaces of Otto in Athens, ie the current Parliament.

Palace of St. Michael and St. George, housing Corfu's Museum of Asian Art Palace of St. Michael and St. George In the Palace of St. Michael and St. George, Corfu's Museum of Asian Art is also worth exploring. It is the only museum in Greece devoted solely to art and antiquities from around the Asian continent. Founded in 1928 as the Museum of Sino-Japanese Art, it has evolved to host collections comprising of around 15,000 works of art from across Asia. There are works from India, Pakistan, Thailand, and Tibet among other countries. It has a number of rare pieces and is also known for its international and rotating exhibits.
