The Catawba River is home to the largest known stand of the rocky shoals spider lily, a flower species found predominantly in the Southeast. Peak bloom season for the rocky shoals spider lily is during May and June. Enjoy kayaking down the river, taking in all of the beauty and wildlife. Be sure to respect and not pick the endangered spider lily flower species. This spot is less than 30 minutes away and usually lasts under 4 hours.

Check out the ruins of a canal system that ran through York County on the Catawba River. It's a beautiful place for a walk in the woods and to see the spider lilies bloom in the river.
