칸사이 지방 최대의 차이나 타운 중앙의 광장은 난킨마치의 만남의 장소이자 고베사람들의 만남의 장소 만두 '부타망'이 명물 전세계에 차이나타운이 없는 나라가 어디 있으랴. 일본에서도 고베는 외국의 문물을 가장 먼저 받아들인 항구도시로, 자연스럽게 차이나타운도 발전을 하여 현재까지 자리를 잡고 있다. 전세계 차이나타운이 그러하듯 중국 전통을 고스란히 고수하고 있는 음식들과 화려한 색채의 분위기가 시선을 끈다. 관광객뿐만 아니라 고베 현지인들의 약속장소로도 많이 쓰이며, 일본에서 두 번째로 큰 차이나타운이다. 하지만 요코하마의 차이나타운이 워낙 큰 관계로 난킨마치는 작게 느껴질 정도. tip 난킨마치의 동서남북 각 입구마다 이정표가 있어 길을 잃어도 찾기가 쉽다. 중국 물품을 파는 상점은 대체로 값이 비싸다.

Located in central Kobe, Nankinmachi is a center of the Chinese community dwelling in the Kansai Region. This is a popular tourist attraction for shopping and dining, where two main streets meeting each other at a small plaza in the center. It is packed with Chinese shops, restaurants and food stands such as manju, ramen, tapioca drinks and many other dishes, though the food may look a bit Japanese.

Ｃｈａｉｎａ ｔｏｗｎ． (南京町 nankinmachi) was the original settlement of Chinese merchants. Today, it is rather touristy though it offers some "Japanised" versions of Chinese food such as pork buns (豚饅頭 buta-manjū). Its architecture is still rather pleasant though
