Hells Gate is a great place to let the kids play on the playground and go for a walk on one of the trails. There is also a Visitors Center where you can find out more about our local history.

Great place to go for a day along the River. There are hiking trails, boat launch, picnic area with park and volleyball/frisbee golf, and swimming. There is also a gift shop and historical information center along with the Jack O’Connor Museum.

Hells gate state park has a beach for summer lounging (although sometimes it is quite busy), a lot of trails for hiking/running/mountain biking, a boat marina to launch from, or an interpretive center if you would like to learn about the history of the area. It costs $7 to enter the state park (Last time I went) but you can access the trails for free from Tammany Creek Road. From their website: The Nez Perce National Historic Park is just a short drive from Hells Gate, with fascinating displays of artifacts and a glimpse of the traditional life of the Nez Perce people. The Jack O’Conner Hunting Heritage and Education Center displays the hunting trophies of outdoor writer and conservationist Jack O’Connor and tells the story of American’s hunting heritage.
