Starting at Milwaukee and California Ave take a walk North down Milwaukee Avenue. Here you will find an abundance of shops, bars and restaurants.

The Milwaukee bus 56 (NOT the Blue Line but right next to it) runs the the diagonal avenue frequently, paralleling the Blue train line through the neighborhoods of Logan Square, Wicker Park, Avondale and beyond. It is very convenient for short hops, and it goes downtown to Madison & State and the Civic Opera House as well as northwest to the Jefferson Park transit station (where other buses, the Metra, and the Blue Line all intersect).
