Hie shrine is located at southern part of Takayama City, 15mins walk from Takayama station. In Takayama, there are two main festivals in the spring and autumn: the Sanno Festival in the spring, which is the festival of the Hie Shrine. The Sanno Festival is held annually on the 14th and 15th of April. The Takayama Festivals has 12 matsuri-yatai festival float and attracts spectators from around the world every year to see its magnificent yatai floats!
