This is a beginners class for all! The aim is to have fun, learn the basic movements, the important social etiquette of flamenco and a short flamenco routine. You’ll be ready to dance at any party like a local!
I’ll first share interesting tales about the beautiful and mysterious culture, the art and lifestyle. See how we really do live flamenco here in Seville. There is no other way to delve so deep into this world - apart from living here for 20 years!
Then, to dance! Learn about important posture, energy and attitude, rhythms and clappings, hand and arm movements and key party steps. We will also do a «remate», this is a rhythmical response to singing that is sure to impress!
Your short fiesta routine includes:
Entering the dance floor in style,
Step and hand movements to make you look like a local,
And of course, the classy exit.
In a typical fiesta we do short dances so that everyone can participate. Meanwhile, others clap and encourage dancers with «jaleos» like "olé!". To outsiders it sounds like heckling, to us it’s the best energy there is - you’ll learn more!
After the class we'll have time to go over any questions you have. I will also send you the best souvenirs to help you keep dancing!
- A video of what you have just learnt
- A unique footwork tutorial and,
- Two personal playlists of the best traditional and modern flamenco music
Other things to note
- This is a fun lesson for everyone and no knowledge of flamenco or dance is needed - You need a reliable wifi connection
