Spectacular Hikes in Oregon

Whether you are new to hiking or an experienced hard core hiker, Oregon has any and every kind of trail you could be hoping for! For a list of popular (which doesn't translate to crowded) trails, take a look at this link: https://www.fs.usda.gov/activity/crgnsa/recreation/hiking/?recid=29872&actid=50 Be sure to check on current status/conditions of trails here: https://www.fs.usda.gov/main/crgnsa/home
Breathtakingly unreal, this hike at times seems like it's right out of a scene from Lord of The Rings. If you slow down long enough to be fully present, in the moment, it can feel as if the whole world has almost stopped moving, the only sounds being the trickling water flowing over moss covered rocks. Currently closed due to post-fire hazards and unstable conditions. Check Area Status at www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/crgnsa/recarea/?recid=29960 before you set out for all gorge hikes.

The Forest Service has reopened the trail, but warns hikers to enter at their own risk because of hazardous conditions, including loose rocks, falling trees and limbs, debris flows, and damaged or blocked trails. Less experienced hikers should consider an alternative to this hike while these conditions exist, and all hikers with dogs or small children should consider safer alternatives.

Once a majestic waterfall, the McKenzie River has changed course and gone underground a few miles up stream. The river only flows over the falls a few times a year, the rest if the time the water emerges from the rocks underwater in the basin of waterfall pool.

One of my all time favorite hikes! Paulina Peak Trail is a 5.5 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near La Pine, Oregon that features a lake and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and scenic driving and is best used from June until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. DISTANCE 5.5 miles ELEVATION GAIN 1,594 feet ROUTE TYPE Out & Back The summit of Paulina Peak with an elevation of 7,984 feet, is the highest point on the Newberry Volcano. This site offers a grand overview of the Newberry Caldera, the south and west flanks of the Newberry Volcano, the Cascades, the Fort Rock Basin, and much of central Oregon. On a clear day, the Cascade Range is visible extending into California (Mt. Shasta) and Washington (Mt. Adams).
