Hiking trails (Kilauea Iki is a good one, not too long), also be sure to see Jaggar Museum at the roads' end, it's free and has good exhibits and you can often catch a ranger giving a talk. Great nighttime viewing of the lava lake in Halemaumau crater

The best Oceanarium on this side of the island, take a picnic, find some shade, spend a few hours, respect the lifeguard signs, but if it's calm you can discover hidden gems. Honu (sea turtles) swim here
