The blue holds of the Bahamas are unique geological features, as they are the only tidal blue holes in the world. Blue holes are underwater caves, so called because of their coloration when viewed from above. The blue holes can only be visited at slack tide, as the tidal pull is very strong. Angelfish Blue Hole and Mystery Cave on nearby Stocking Island are popular dive destinations. There are many spectacular reefs surrounding the Exumas, including Stingray reef with moray eels, octopus and spiny lobster. There are a few wrecks close to the island. Dive Exuma sunk a wreck of its own in 2005.
