A historic little town which was abandoned in the second world war and has been left untouched. Leads onto some amazing beaches.

Is a town that was evacuated temporarily for Army to practice manoeuvres and then they didnt let towns people back . So its frozen in time . Church and school there and the ruins of houses . you can walk down to beach (stoney) from town. Its free to park. Check opening times as they still do Army training in this area.

Tyneham is a village that was evacuated in WW2 so that the army could use it for target practice. The old School and Church are the only buildings that remain intact... lost in a timewarp!

Tyneham Village - where time stopped in 1943... Often referred to as Dorset’s ‘lost’ village, only the memories of who used to live here now remain. The village was evacuated in December 1943 during WWII and has been deserted ever since. The area was needed for military training but after the war ended, the villagers were not allowed to return. You can still see some of the original buildings and read about what village life used to be like. Both the restored Church and School buildings are still intact and have exhibitions about the village and villagers. The exhibitions are open from 10am until 4pm when the village is open to the public. At Tyneham Farm, some of the outbuildings have been restored and there is a picnic area to enjoy.

Just 14 miles approx 25 mins from us through some beautiful country lanes is the deserted village of Tyneham. Tyneham was requisitioned by the MOD in 1943 for the use as a firing range. Now just off the beaten track the cove has crystal clear water in the summer. It is a shingle beach , free parking (donations), toilets (disabled also), wheel chair accessible, dogs welcome. Check opening times as the village is owned by the MOD and is a firing range some weeks and weekends it is shut to the public.
