This is a lovely walk around the rock shelf at low tide. You will need shoes with grip. Lots of lovely rock pools to explore. Wonderfull spot for kids to explore with supervision. Our backyard opens onto Black Head Reserve. Follow the walking trails along the edge and you will find access paths to the back beach and the rock shelf. The easiest access is from the car park, near the bend in Headland Drive. From here you can scramble over rocks , around the head and out to the point itself. A degree of dexterity is required. Alternatively the back beach offers respite during peak season crowds at the main beach.

Great for rockpools & kiteflying. Fossils are everywhere. Be careful as can be seperated from headland at high tides.

Located at the tip of Gerroa’s headland with sweeping views to the south over Seven Mile Beach, towards Shoalhaven Heads and then further across to Beecroft Peninsula. A lovely spot for a picnic or a stroll, most of Black Head is a designated 24-hour dog off-leash area. See the signs in the car parks for details. There is also access down to a little beach to the north of the headland, ideal for searching out fossils shells and exploring rock pools. It’s best to wear sandshoes or sturdy sandals in this area as thongs slip easily on the wet rock. Black Head is also a great spot for whale watching between May and November, with the whales migrating north from May to August, and south from September to November.

The best whale-watching spot in Gerroa, as well as a shelly beach with rockpools to explore. Great rock-fishing and an good alternative surf break.
