The Centro Asturiano, the 1927 building that houses the universal art collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, is an incredible, eclectic structure facing Central Park. It radiates luxury, thanks in part to its staircase finished in Carrara marble. This has been the setting for many Cuban film shoots. The grand ballroom is filled with artwork. The skylight above the staircase is an enormous stained glass image recounting the arrival of Columbus in the Americas. At midday, the light coming through it is absolutely magical.

The place to visit with a Cuban guide if you want to understand and witness Cuban history through the sometimes chaotic journey of its great visual artists of the twentieth century. The architecture of the museum is worth the trip too.

Its a museum of Fine Arts that exhibits Cuban art collections from the colonial times up to contemporary generations, a visual history of Cuba. The admission price is very reasonable given the quality of the museum and scale of the exhibits. The museum is very well kept and conducive to all types of visitors.

This a big and nicely curated art museum with Cuban art from about mid-1800's to present day. You can appreciate the European influences to the Cuban modern artists and art expressions in reaction to the Cuban society at different times. The angry work after the revolution is striking. Overall, the quality of the art is great as well as all the artists chosen - if you like modern art, it is worth of your time. The museum is well lit, air conditioned, and it provides a very pleasant experience. Prepare to spend a few hours here.

The Parque Histórico Militar encompasses two of Havana's famous fortresses: the Castillo de los Tres Reyes del Morro, also known as El Morro, and Fortaleza de San Carlos de la Cabana. Presiding over the entrance of the Bay of Havana, El Morro was built in the late 16th century and early 17th century to fend off pirates and looks much the same as it did back then. The lighthouse was replaced with one of stone in the middle of the 19th century, but its original lamp still shines out to sea. Visitors can ascend to the top of the fort to admire the impressive views of the ocean and city.
