It is a nice 2-3klm walk from house over to surf beach. Just walk down road, turn left and keep walking straight along the road. Continue straight once you hit the sand road. Please do not swim and the surf is unpredictable and no lifeguards are on the Island.
A lovely 20-25 minute walk from the lodge to this beautiful surf beach. You can see Surfers paradise on a clear day or migrating whales June to October.

The South Stradbroke Island, colloquially South Straddie, is an island that lies within Moreton Bay in the Australian state of Queensland, south of Brisbane and forms the northern end of Gold Coast. The 21 kilometres by 2.5 kilometres sized island is the smaller one of the two Stradbroke Islands and lies very close to the mainland. The island has hundreds of wild wallabies that are usually human orientated. There’s three council campsites on the island, as well as a café. South Straddie offers superb surfing, swimming and bushwalking. There’s loads of native wildlife among this 1800-hectare conservation park which is ideal for hiking, rock climbing and ocean fishing.

- Natural Feature“Keyhole Lagoons An incredible 4.5km series of clear freshwater lakes, commonly used for kayaking and stand-up-paddle boarding but equally fantastic for swimming. The Keyhole Lagoons are in a really quiet area with few visitors. You will need to drive along main beach to access the Keyhole Lagoons, which requires four wheel drive. Alternatively you can access them by walking approx 1 hour from George Nothling Drive With 4WD: Permits are required and can be obtained from Straddie Camping You’ll also need to check tide times as driving on the beach is prohibited for two hours either side of low tide. Drive down the beach until you are parallel with the Keyhole Lagoons. Turn onto the access track then about 100m in to the first lagoon”
