You can walk to the cross from your casita, it's a nice way to get some exercise! Allow about 40 minutes for a leisurely round trip. But here's a little secret: The *original* Cross of the Martyrs is in our neighborhood, just a 5 minute walk away. Find your way to the corner of Paseo de la Cuma and La Cruz Road and look up. You can walk up the wooden steps to the old cross. The steps are public property with nice views.
