The Dean Forest Railway is based at Norchard, on the B4234 Forest Road between Lydney and Parkend. If arriving by road, we recommend starting your journey here, for as well as offering a more frequent range of train departures than Lydney Junction or Parkend, there is a large free car park.

Take a trip back into the steam age on the Dean Forest Railway. Run by volunteers and running from Lydney to Parkend, it evokes a time when rail moved the coal and iron ore out of the Forest to Lydney Docks and beyond.

A 8.5 mile trip through the medieval forest to Parkend with steam and some heritage diesel train services. Free parking, cafeteria, museum and gift shop at Norchard station. Pay once - ride all day!
