The coolest lava flow viewpoint in Central Oregon, and its part of the loop we always send our friends and family on who are visiting Central Oregon for the first time. (Dee Wright > Proxy Falls > Blue Pool > Koosah Falls > Sahalie Falls > Sisters).

The road is closed usually until some time in June. But is open to cyclists before the road opens and is a great ride once they've plowed it! A must see, the observatory and surrounding landscape (think moonscape) is divine!

An observatory built from lava rock by the army corps of engineers during the great depression! History and nearly unbelievable surroundings - it almost feels as though you have visited another planet! Definitely worth the winding drive up scenic hwy 242!
