This is the headquarters store for half price books. When they say everything’s big in Texas this store is no exception. 19,483 yards of books and music fill the store. Every bookshelf was built by their employees. They donated a little over 1 million books to charity in 2020. It’s roughly 2 miles away the townhouse. The Black Forest Cafe inside it has tasty treats and tables you can sit at to read. On Sundays around 3 pm(ish) local musicians jam outside the cafe. It’s a fun way to hear local talent.

If you are a fan of browsing tons of used (and some new) books, records, board games, cassettes, DVDs, CDs, audio books, etc. etc., this is a great place to spend at least an hour...or two! Half Price Books began in an old laundromat in Dallas near Lovers Lane and Inwood Road but this has been the "flagship" or "headquarters" store for many years. There are now more than 120 HPBs across the country.

This family-owned chain of new & used bookstores is North America’s biggest. The company’s motto of “We buy & sell anything printed or recorded except yesterday’s newspaper” is still current, offering the family an enjoyable time searching through the many used books, music, & movies for sale. Also has an exciting range of comic books & games! It’s worth checking out their clearance section too, where there are plenty of $1 children’s books. The staff are very friendly & helpful and, if they don’t have a particular item in stock, are always willing to look in their inventory and see if any of their stores across the country have it in stock &, for a small fee, will get it shipped over.
