Voted one of the top 5 beaches in the World. Walk from Whangapoa around the rocks and through the Pongas and ferns on the other side to New Chums Beach. No shops etc when you get there, so take water, drinks and food with you and remember to take all your rubbish home with you.
Go to the lookout, there’s a best selfie spot on a rock throne and if you keep going to the point there’s the illest cliff jump into an ocean cave. Don’t go alone. So dangerous...
Can not recommend this highly enough - such a special remote place - accessible only by walking across the water from whangapoua. Please check tide times so you can get there and back safely. Easy walking track. Beautiful spot last remaining beach not sold out to investors - you won’t be…
Beautiful undeveloped beach surrounded by dense native bush. Walk across the stream at the west end of Whangapoua Beach and follow the coast to the marked path over the headland to New Chums. The Whangapoua side is stony and can be hard going but it is totally worth it.
Pack a picnic & head to New Chums Beach named one of the top 20 deserted beaches in the world! The pristine northeast-facing beach is accessible only by boat or via a 30-minute walk on a track along the coast from the estuary at the northern end of Whangapoua Beach. A short drive from Matarangi,…
one of the best beaches in the world (apparently), only accessible via walking in (at low tide best). Nothing there but the beach so take water / food in. lots of shade to sit under
A must see-and-do! The beach at Whangapoua is simply great for surf with an estuary for small children. The shortish hike through to New Chums is well worthwhile.
New Chums is a stunning beach around 40 Min away from Hot Water Beach. Drive to Whangapoua then park at the south end of the village, walk around the point and you will get to a stunning and remote beach.
