Ah, the Itch! Absolutely wonderful state park that all ages enjoy. Ok, so the water is cold. "It feels great after you've been in a minute." You'll hear that a lot. And it really does. When we lived in Alachua, it was a tradition on Friday afternoon to go to the springs, get cold clear down to…

Rent a tube and float down a crystal clear, turquoise river that's 72 degrees year round. Enjoy one of Florida's most beautiful First Magnitude springs while you view turtles, wading birds, otters, and if you're lucky--the Florida manatee (typically winter residents).

“- The Santa Fe River goes completely underground at the end of one of the hiking trails - Has a very pretty suspension bridge over the river. This park was first created by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s, then converted into one of Florida's first state parks - View some historic structures & memorabilia.”

“This park demonstrates the evolution of Florida farming from the 1850s to the mid-1940s through three generations of the Dudley family. An authentic working farm, the homestead consists of 18 buildings, including the family farmhouse with original furnishings, an 1880s kitchen outbuilding, general store, post office and a functional cane syrup complex. Park staff in period clothing perform chores, raise crops and tend to livestock. The farm features seasonal cane grindings, corn shuckings and heritage varieties of livestock and plants. Deer, wild turkeys, gopher tortoises and bluebirds may be seen in the fields. The park also has a visitor center, picnic area and nature trail. ”

“If you like street tacos, this is your spot! Cilantro Tacos is a hometown taco/burrito spot that has a ton of flavor. They have a location in Gainesville now as well, which shows their success. Come here for some of the best tacos around!”

“The BEST pizza on this side of town. Another small town location where the owner greets you as you enter and all of the staff is incredibly friendly. Eat your meal inside as the wait times are usually pretty low and they have pizza ready by the slice. Buy their garlic knots which are delicious and 3 for $1!! ”
