It’s a working farm and collection of micro-businesses that allows visitors to see how food is grown and produced before ending up on your plate. The motto “Grow, Feed, Educate” inspires every action and encourages a healthier and harmonious relationship with the land, animals, and community. Join a tour of the farm, visit the animals, or have fun with the kids at the playground before sitting down to eat at the onsite restaurant, Three Blue Ducks. The menu is full of nourishing meals that are seasonal, ethical, authentic, and high-quality. Much of the produce comes from the farm or other local suppliers. Meanwhile, the dining space is low-key and comfortable, with a 12-meter outdoor kitchen. The Byron Bay location is the newest addition to the family, opening in 2019. Its modern Asian menu is entirely vegan, with plenty of gluten-free options. Choose from small, medium, and large plates on the regular menu, with dishes like Kale and Smoked Eggplant Gyoza, Korean Fried Brocollini, or Vegetable Prik King Sambal. If you just can’t decide, there’s also a banquet that showcases some of the most popular and delicious options. Weekend lunchtimes offer Yum Cha, with a range of small plates for sharing (or not). Of course, to wash it all down, there’s Yulli’s Brews beers, kombucha, wine, sake, spirits, and cocktails. It’s an ever-changing mix of contemporary Japanese food and Asian-fusion cuisine that makes a fun shared dining experience. As much as possible, organic and free-range produce is sourced locally from the Northern Rivers Region, supporting local farmers and suppliers. You can opt for classic sushi and sashimi with rolls, nigiri, and handrolls. Alternatively, hot dishes include steamed buns, edamame, tempura, gyoza, teriyaki, and soups. After 5:00 pm, you can also choose a set menu, with a “Feed Me” or “Premium” option, where the latter has the chance to add on matched beverages. The drinks list has an extensive collection of sakes in a range of styles, as well as nigori, umeshu, and Japanese whiskey. If you prefer something more western, there are wine, beer, cocktails, soft drinks, and spirits. It’s open for lunch and dinner. However, if you’re keen on breakfast, the more casual Beach Kiosk has a tasty menu to start the day that you can enjoy at the picnic tables or on the sand. Simon Palmer is the Head Chef and has created a fabulous seasonal food menu that celebrates and showcases the best coastal flavors and local produce. Dig into wood-fired Hervey Bay scallops, coal-roasted fish, duck breast with honey labna, pumpkin raviolo, or dry-aged beef. It’s a wonderful way for everyone in the community to connect with Aboriginal culture, art, and stories through an authentic avenue. Established in 2017 by three mates from Melbourne, it’s all about good food, delicious cocktails, and a “jump out of your seat party vibe.” Executive Chef Robbie Oijvall sits at the helm creating bold, colorful, and punchy dishes. Enjoy Fire Cracker Chicken; Mud Crab, Prawn, and Scallop dumplings; Chilli Caramel Pork bao buns; or Tumeric and Coconut Cauliflower Curry. All are flavor explosions that are perfect for sharing. This Mexican restaurant is funky and friendly, mixing the energy and flavors of Mexico with the laid-back beach vibe of the coast. It’s open for lunch and dinner and is walk-in only. Try to get there early and give your details to the host, who can text you when a table becomes available. The menu features classics like nachos, tacos, burritos, fajitas, and quesadillas, with fillings such as crispy snapper, chorizo and prawn, shredded Oaxaca beef, chipotle chicken, and mushrooms and zucchini.
