Explore this stunning building in the heart of Carlow town and visit the VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art and George Bernard Shaw Theatre. Engage with amazing artwork by national and international artists and be inspired by Ireland’s largest and most spectacular space for contemporary art. There’s lots of activities to enjoy, from weekly parent and toddler art classes to family art workshops, youth theatre, intimate music gigs in the GB Bar, talks, workshops, tours, plus a 320-seat theatre with a packed programme of drama, film, dance and comedy. The Visual Arts Carlow Centre Carlow for Contemporary Art and George Bernard Shaw Theatre also houses the award-winning and highly popular restaurant, Lennons@Visual, full of yummy treats for morning coffee, lunch and dinner on weekends. Why not make a night of it and enjoy dinner and an event in the theatre? Or just relax in the bar before a show. Opening Hours for Galleries and Box Office Tuesday – Saturday 11 a.m. – 5.30 p.m. Sunday 2 -5 p.m. Box Office is also open one hour before all events.

High standard visual arts space. Well curated, featuring Irish artists and a huge variety of mediums, from sculpture to stories told through different media to drawing, painting, photography, sound, filmography, etc! Installations usually run for about 3 months and take a couple of weeks to change over, so check before you go. Entry is FREE. In the same complex is the George Bernard Shaw Theatre. Enjoy plays, comedy, dance, arthouse films, dance and more. Booking ahead is a good idea but not usually essential. www.visualcarlow.ie
