Solomons Island (16 mi / 25 min) - Once a sleepy fishing village is now made up of marinas restaurants and bars including the world famous Tiki Bar, Cone Island soft serve ice cream, Carmen’s Gallery, a few shops and an award winning museum. Calvert Marine Museum - In addition to static displays there is an active paleontology lab and an entertaining otter habitat. Boat tours on the Skipjack Dee of St. Marys and the Bugeye W. B. Tennyson are fun. Climb up and tour the Drum Point Screwpile Lighthouse. Restaurants: Lotus Kitchen featuring Kim’s Key Lime Pies - coffee and sandwiches. Island Hideaway - family run restaurant overlooking the harbor with over the top home made deserts. Lighthouse - great view with outdoor seating. Solomons Pier - back deck bar can’t be beat to watch the Sun set over the Bridge. Bring your camera. Dry Dock at Zahniser’s Marina is our go-to special occasion spot. The best atmosphere on the island. CD Cafe / Next Door Lounge doesn’t really have a water view, but the chef’s creative menu makes up for it.

A wide, well-maintained boardwalk along the eastern shore of the Patuxent River, perfect for a sunset stroll, with plenty of small shops and restaurants to visit. About 20 minutes north.
