One of our all-time favorite swimming holes in Arizona is called Grasshopper Point, which is at the base of Oak Creek Canyon in the Sedona area. This is part of the Coconino National Forest and managed by the National Forest Service. Grasshopper Point is shady, cool, and refreshing along the side of a cliff and a perfect way to beat the summer heat. You can reach Grasshopper Point from Allen’s Bend, which connects with the Huckaby Trail and the Casner Canyon Trail. It’s fun to plan a day hike and then end up at Grasshopper Point at the end of the day to relax and unwind.

Another great place to hike, swim and see some great red rock views. There are some small Indian Ruins in close proximity to the parking area that even small children can navigate the trail with some help to reach. I recommend wearing long pants and close toed shoes for all hikes and being prepared with water shoes and a lot of sunscreen and water to drink if planning to stay and swim as well.

You'll want to get there early to get a parking spot in the lot. Take snacks, water and sunblock to enjoy some time in the water.

Swimming Hole, picnic area, cliff jumping. The area is shaded, and water is quite cool, so towels, hiking shoes that can be worn in water, great for hot summer days. There is an Entrance fee $9.00 for car to enter and park, opens at 9a.m and its about 120 yards walk down to the swimming hole.
