The Monon is a bike path that follows the old Monon Railway North from downtown all the way to Carmel. Several locations rent bikes in our downtown area.
This bike and walking trail stretches from downtown Indy almost 20 miles north through Carmel. Great for walking, running, and cycling.
One of the best rail to trail projects anywhere with a beautiful canopy. The portion in Carmel is particularly nice because it dissects the downtown, several parks and the arts and design district.
Just a few steps from the farmhouse! Head east on 38th street and turn left (North) at the Indiana Fairgrounds sign. The Monon trail goes for many miles and is great for biking/walking/running.
The best place to access this well-loved rails-to-trails paved path is at the Kroger which is less than a mile down the street.

“Walk, bike or gondola down our unique downtown Canal Walk. From the King Park Outback, you can walk to the bike share station at the top of Mass Ave and ride along the Cultural Trail until you hit the Canal. Stop along the way to eat at one of the few restaurants or visit the Indiana State Museum, the Eitlejorg Museum of Native American History, or the NCAA Museum.”
