A great drive/hike opportunity to see ancient indian dwellings and to learn about the early indigenous indian cultures that lived here. Start the drive from the Sunset crater visitors center to see the combined history of the volcanic and indian cultures that once were.
Wupatki National Monument is near Sunset Crater. We recommend driving to the Wupatki NM entrance and then driving the loop around to Sunset Crater NM. From the NPS website Wupatki National Monument is located along a 34-mile scenic loop road through open meadows, beautiful ponderosa pine trees,…
There are many pull over sites for viewing Indian ruins. There is also a visitors center. This area is a loop that begins 10 miles north of us.
An incredible place, rich with historic significance to native peoples, with views of the painted desert. Just 45 minutes north of Flagstaff. A must see!
