Advice for a perfect Day: Start the day with a good Coffee + Breakfast at the Kaffee Dreiviertel, then walk trough the park to the Rhine, walk along the rhine heading to the Dom and see the church, after that have a german meal at The “Gaffel am Dom” or just the typical cologne beer “Kölsch”. After that you could go shopping near the Gaffel or to the tourist information near-by. Have fun !

Eines der vielen Brauhäuser in Köln. Kölsch Bier und authentische deutsche Küche. One of the many brewery houses in Cologne. "Kölsch" beer and authentic German cuisine.

If you're specifically looking for touristy & traditional, authentic German food-- and local Kölsch "bier" look no further. With views over the Dom, it's the most worth it of the german touristy spots. But I prefer Metzger & Marie for something similar but less expected ;-)
