Less than a 10 minute walk from Monkland Cottage and you can be on one of Nairn's stunning beaches. You can visit the central, east or west beach. If you’re brave enough take your swimsuit / wetsuit and take a dip! Sea swimming is proving to be very popular in Nairn as is Paddle boarding and Kayaking. You may also be lucky enough to see some of our bottle nose dolphins from the shore. Look out for flocks of birds circling as this can often be an indicator of dolphin activity.

Nairn Beach is backed by low sand dunes and a promenade with an open, grassy links area. Central Beach stretches from The Nairn Golf Club in the West End to the Harbour at Fishertown, with stunning views over the Moray Firth towards Cromarty. You’ll enjoy magnificent sunsets here throughout the year and even more magical glimpses of the Northern Lights in the dark skies over the Firth during winter. This superb sandy beach in the middle of Nairn is a fantastic attraction and popular with families, particularly in the summer months. Its coastline is home to a resident school of dolphins. There is also a great range of coastal walks in either direction with a nature reserve at Kingsteps in the east and a viewpoint to the west.
