Just past Louisiburgh - first right turn is a really large beach - Carrowmore. Further out that road is a massive beach – Silver Strand.

This sandy beach stretches 1/2 mile from Carrowmore quay to the Bunowen River and as well as being a beautiful sandy beach, it is one of Ireland's most unique wildlife habitats as it is backed by low machair grasslands and dunes that are home to many plants, birds and insects.
