The most photographed lighthouse in America. Just a quick mile walk or ride from the cottage. Beautiful grounds with plenty of space to play, picnic, explore ruins, etc.
Beautiful scenic view! The Fort Williams Park is also a great place for walking, strolling, etc.
Must see lighthouse! Make sure to walk the path around the park (if you're facing the headlight, it runs along the cliff to the left) and drink in the sights and smells.
The most photographed lighthouse in the U.S. You have seen it even if you haven't been there. Now, it's your turn. Take a picnic drive. Or get lobster rolls and fried clams nearby. (see Lobster Shack)
When visiting the promontory where the lighthouse is located you will notice the waves crashing over an unusual rock formation. They appear to be petrified wood, but is actually quartzite and dark grey phyllite accumulating in alternating layers. As you look out over Portland Harbor and Casco Bay…
Because it is something everyone does! And when you do... buy a lobster roll and and enjoy the view!
A must see! Located in nearby Fort Williams Park, this is Portland's most famous lighthouse and the most photographed in the country!
Because you see this on every postcard, calendar, painting.. you may as well check it out in person.
most photographed lighthouse ever - very picturesque with a rock climbing wall - serious rockclimbers right next to it and a nice park with spectacular ocean views. Also has one of the top 10 spots to buy a lobster roll at the food cart there
