More than books, Books to Be Red also has pottery, gifts, jewelry and kids stuff. The book selection is vast and deep. Leslie, the store owner, is one of my favorite people on Ocracoke.

Just off of Highway 12 nestled among live oaks, you'll find one of the best independent book stores in NC-filled with a wonderful selection of books, art supplies, children's books/games, NC made crafts and goods, and much more. Leslie, the shop owner, has created a welcoming space to find the right book, treat, or keepsake from your trip to Ocracoke. This is probably one of my favorite stores on Ocracoke!
