Þjórsárdalur is a valley in Árnessýsla county in Iceland that lies between mount Búrfell alongside the river Þjórsá to the east and mount Skriðufell to the west.

Þjórsárdalur is a beautiful place located about an hour away from AnnasHouse. There you can find places like Thjórsárdalsskógur which is a forest. There is also Icelands Búrfellsvirkjun which is a hydroelectric power plant where you can also visit Þjóðveldisbærinn which is a traditional old Icelandic house and was used in Game of Thrones.Then there’s Gjáin which is a beautiful place hidden away in Thjórsárdalur.

For a good day relaxation with nature beauties Thjorsardalur valley is superb. To get there get on road 1 eastwards, drive through Selfoss and 20 km further east you have 30 for another 20 km and then turn right on 32. You will in a good weather, clear day and no snow enjoy places like Hjalparfoss waterfall, Haifoss, Stong, Gjain for a small hike. But it needs to be a clear frosty day.
