Inaugurated after the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, this botanical garden aims to preserve the numerous species of Mediterranean plants from all over the world. The garden is divided into five separate parts, corresponding to five regions of the world with climates similar to the Mediterranean. The garden is famous for having a specimen of Wollemia nobilis, a very rare living fossil that was discovered in 1994 growing in a rainforest gorge in Australia.
