Taormina+ Isola Bella are a must if you are staying nearby Catania. I recommend to park the car in Catania station and get a bus. It will leave you in Taormina centre. You can walk towards Isola Bella, have a swim and take a cable car to the centre of Taormina (3 euros) and visit the theater and eat granita at Bam Bar.

Popular with tourists, with beautiful monuments, the beach at ‘isola bella’ you can reach by chairlift, and amazing views of Mt Etna from the main square and the Roman 'anfiteatro'.

Half-away between Catania and Messina lies the picturesque, waterside town of Taormina. It’s situated at elevation, which makes for some splendid views over the water, and has a few pleasant beaches down below (ask for “Isola Bella” in Taormina beach area). A not-to-be-missed attraction is the ancient Greco-Roman theater.
